But It Lasts

Washing away, the broken glass
but it lasts
humming to a rhythm, going unseen
from the past..

The mistreatment goes on, and on
they'd be aghast
if they could see it
if they could feel it

But they don't
really believe it
and they'll be last
to see it …

Love Will Conquer Everything

Nervous systems'
racing
amygdalas
pacing

It's not a fuss
it may be a mess
or one could guess
it be something it's not

Noticing every detail
feeling every entail
energy is often wafting
stinking, and it is exhausting

But then there is white light
to block out negative
must visualize it bold and strong
letting in only love; back and to give..

Like a circle, all around
even amidst the sounds
of spiritually dead batteries
monotone, like factories

There is good light singing
shining through the dust
and that's why it must
join in harmony

Blocking out the discord
with a chorus singing free
from every tree to tree
and every stump so grieving

We can't stop believing
love will conquer
everything

Find my way to glory

Find my way to glory

Can I ever be with Me
just with my spirit
under a tree
oh, where is it
where is the key
to the mystery
of my darkest dreams

Of my fractured psyche
oh, when was it when
something went so wrong
and programmed me to self-condemn

To turn my pain on
to myself, within my heart
and within my soul
there must be a hole
a hole
in me

What happens when the hurt
just runs so deep
it is felt within the dark
and within my sleep
And within all the shadows
following
It is the sickness
of wallowing

Despite the good strides
that I've been taking
that I have been making

There still is.. something
I’m blaming
my own self for
and I can’t quite open this door
and must find the key

So I can be free
walking down the flowered path
toward my purple palace
of love and light

Like I have for humankind
all that’s left, is to pray
to believe that it's ok

To love myself enough
even though it is so tough
to find my way to glory
and live to tell the story

Untitled

Riddance
of exposure
to one that has me down
so hard without a frown
in which I do drown

Expectancy
evasively
I run through muddy brush
my heart is a a-rush
with the sounds
all around

These Flowers (A Poem for Women on the Autism Spectrum)

These flowers are the tears
an autistic woman cries
when no one knows just who she is
and there’s no alibi

Drinking warm tea, by the wayside
counting stars, by the wayside
crying out to see the daylight
as she struggles so, inside

Femininity in patterns
her feelings heat her blood
and strong enough to be a poison
if her brain they flood

People’s expectations
weigh down upon her soul
breaking time, and taking..
from her essence, from her flow

Fragmented like blown then shattered glass
colours; all in pieces
she folds, like an accordion
with whispers between the creases

Folding and lengthening, again and again
Pressing keys to hum a tune
her hands reach out, like a young mothers’ touch
then pull in, like the moon

Mysterious and loving
like a sensitive
but temperamental
kitty cat
underappreciated
for all it’s worth
taken advantage of
in that

Oh can she survive
to reveal her true
break out from a veil
of darkened blue
and share, from sister to sister
and heal from every blister

From nettles that stung
Sewing magic sweaters
Instead she can pick heather

The mind of what they call autism
it is so unique
and if the light is seen
amongst the shadows dark and bleak

That are brought forth by life upon
a system, counter clockwise to
the way we think
but she won’t shrink
or hide
or be pushed to the brink …

The woman, who feels so lonely
will find within, her right
To be understood
along with the man
for she’s the other half
of the Aspie light

And though she may not show it
in the same way as
she does glow it

If one would look with open eyes
beyond the disguise
she’s been pushed to make
she’s anything but fake

She is pure and true
flowers from her tears
will not die, but bloom
for our lives are not doomed

So

We’ll open up strong
and we’ll open up proud
Autistic women
Speak; aloud

Icicle bicycle

Icicle bicycle
Rider; peddle, turn
Underneath the wheels
And you dare not squeal

Though the heads ridden upon
are reaching Jill and John
ride on, shiny bicycle
Shine under the winter sun

Red, and spanking new
Like the blood
that’s not your few

Speeding then
over flesh
In a net of mesh

Spokes speckled with
foamy spit
But you are not it
And them
so ride over the mayhem

Ride across the bridge
But beware
Of the ridge
There’s a barricade ahead

Voices sing; truth seeking lead
Ready with torches
Of fiery love
Hurt but standing
With strength from above

The heat is strong
And the heat is real
Though we know you cannot feel
On the structure that you deal..

You won’t crush with your icicle
When fire melts your bicycle

Little Squirrel

Little squirrel
Collecting acorns
For her family
It is the world

After mission, she curls
Up into a ball
She both wants it all
And she wants to crawl

Into her burrow
But she mustn't for long
There’s another mission
To chirp her song

She collects at the speed of light
clever at flipping plight
Her colony needs her so
And love she wants to show

But

She’s inside out
and upside down
sometimes,
up on the oak braches high
Not safe and sound
though she’ll get back down
to earth, somehow
but she can’t allow

The love too close
batting lady squirrel eyes
chirping her worldly wishes
secretly a little skittish…

She doesn’t ever mean to boast
though her enemies may think
on the branches, on the brink..
the next tree is the link

Little squirrel breathe
little squirrel receive
The destined flow
you’re safe; just go.
